Where's the bloody month gone?  I started with one unit that needed finishing and I'm ending it the same way...

Despite suffering more than a couple sleepless nights, there is little in the way I can offer as excuses, procrastination has won out!

I think I can squeeze a couple of hours out of tomorrow if I get up early enough, but I'll be posting 'as is' pics on Friday regardless.

In unrelated news, I'm backing Mr. Mulholland for Prime Minister should he ever go into politics...

New forum

I've set up a new forum for us:

please feel free to sign up so I can let some of you moderate it.

Gothic Industries Manufactured Playing Systems present Skirmish

Version 2.1 of the ruleset

The zombie survival demo game.

Links aren't working PM me and i'll send you the direct access address.

It is a work in progress and will be updated on a semi-regular basis (hopefully becoming more coherent in the process), but I've been working on this for over a year now and would really appreciate some feedback.

Initial play-testing has thrown up some bugs that I'm fighting to iron out, but all in all I'm pretty pleased with it.

I'm going slightly mad... ever slightly mad.  So there you have it.

Had one of those days where everything has turned into a song lyric, I've been singing (in it's loosest possible term) everything from Bryan Adams to LMFAO with some decent stuff in between. Very weird!

Anyway,  I've not picked up my paint brush for over a week due to lack of sleep but I'm hoping to get at least 2 hours in later to make a slight dent in the Orks.

Speaking of which, given recent developments at the club combined with my near total disillusionment of 40k, I think I'm going to shelf them again for a little while, it's not as though it's the only army I've got to paint!
Instead I will be painting my Skaven warband and Escher gang in August ready for the Mordheim and Necromunda campaigns. Hopefully this will revitalise me enough to have another look at the Orks in September.

Edit:   No, my painting hopes were dashed equally as harshly as my lottery win.  Play online, get an email you've won, log on to find your the winner of 460...pence!  Oh, well at least I got to see Sherlock as I missed it last time round. ;-P

I've lost my 'Bollocks' banner for my Nob, one of those put it down safe moments, never mind plenty more in the SM bits box.

In unrelated news, I traded valuable painting time for a game with Jim on Saturday so he could try out his DE list against the winning Ork Battlewagon list from last year.  Result: resounding victory for Jim, the only reason I caused any damage at all was his ineptitude to stay far away from me. We rounded off the evening with a bit of coaching so I doubt he'll be making that mistake again.

First drafts of the rules for Gothic Industries Manufactured Playing Systems: Skirmish are available for anyone who wants a neb,  be warned there's been a number of major changes recently so I might not have caught all the errant references. PM me for the link if you're interested.

First 'Tale of' Game

So, last night I had the opportunity to play Will again and for the first time we had some Ork on Ork action.

We bent the rules slightly and upped the point cost to 750pts to include one model that wasn't on our painting table for this month.  It was a very enjoyable game and I got to teach Will the lessons I learnt in last year's campaign, namely:

1. Take lots of boyz and don't field a single mob of less than 30 models.
2. All slugga boyz mobs must include a Nob with Powerklaw.
3. All characters need 'Eavy Armour.
4. Warbosses should take a Big Choppa instead of a Powerklaw, ride a bike and go tank hunting.
5. Warbosses with Powerklaws shouldn't charge a unit without support, especially if you haven't followed rule 2.

I'm looking forward to the re-match.

We also got the opportunity to bring "Gothic Industries Manufactured Playing Systems - Skirmish edition" one step closer to completion. Jim, Will and I were enjoying it so much we didn't realise what time it was!  Thanks for the input Will, I'll be amending the ruleset accordingly later.

All I want for Christmas...

is a Warbike Boss.

From Forgeworld.

I've been tempted by this model before but always though £40 a bit steep for a model on a bike.  Now they've added these to comparison pics and ME WANT, he's the size of a bloody Rhino!

That's what a Warboss should look like!

From the top...

Well, this months scores are in and I've properly been stuffed by the marks scheme.   Because of that I'm going to 'Start' again and reset my target for this month to the same as last month i.e. 60 boyz and a Big Mek.

That said, the 30 boyz already painted are going to be given some 'Oomph' before resubmission, though don't expect flourescent Orks Tom as I'm deliberately using a muted palette.

I've learnt my lessons and this shit just got serious...

Edit:   Done 'em!  Second unit started and Big Mek getting a facelift.  Pics to follow shortly...
