Here we go again... Tale of II - The comeback tour
Salutations chaps, happy new year and welcome back unto the fold. 2013 promises to be a great year, I mean we've survived yet another apocalypse so we must be doing something right! I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this year, no silly targets but I'd like to see if there's a group project we could work on.
I think December will be a really quiet month for me in the future as I'm only just getting some motivation back after what was a very exhausting period. Still in my absence I appear to have picked up some new followers, a hearty welcome to Anton of 'The Anarchy of Anton' blog, Duane who I don't think has a blog (please correct me), Matthew and Bill aka Lowelife101 of Matthew and Bill's Warhammer Painting Blog and finally me... yep I've managed to click something so now I'm following my own blog and I don't know how to undo it.

Right, onto the task in hand setting realistic targets for January.
First up is a refresh job of my 40k Templar Mechanicus army as 1k of it has been entered in the Vapnartak competition at the beginning of February, doesn't need much but I'm replacing the ramshackle Thunderfire Cannon with a model that looks like it can a) actually move and b) dish out some serious damage, i.e. a Mantic Jotunn Heavy Hailstorm Cannon. I also need to buy a new fist for my Forgeworld Venerable Dread so I can use him as an Ironclad as standard Dreads are officially crap in Close combat under 6th ed because Armour 12 and 3 Hull points means jack all when your opponent is hitting you with Krak grenades and a powerfist. Under fifth grenades were a desperate measure kind of thing, now you make a single attack at your normal weapon skill (so 4+ on average) then roll for damage and as Krak grenades are S6 any roll of a 6 causes a glancing hit. The Ven's signature "re-roll that damage result rule" doesn't kick in against Glancing Hits any more so you're crippled by three glancing hits and can do nothing about it. Ironclad on the other hand is Armour 13, Krak's can't hurt him and he's cheaper!
Secondly I need to paint up some more Nuem, two Tormenta's (for a total of 3), a second Pueri and 4 Sagitarrius.
Okay so those are my basic targets for this month, onto stretch goals:
1. My first commission piece, well ish. One of my ex-pupils is buying the Dark Angels from the Dark Vengeance box off me and I said I'd paint the terminators as part of the negotiations, he then added to what he wanted off me and I was stuck with the agreement despite the fact I'm no longer getting paid for it. Oh well, it'll be practice for...
2. Madbeardyman is one of those fortunate hobbyists who can afford to splash out on his whims, unfortunately for him the necessary work entailed to afford these whims means he doesn't get time to paint them. Therefore I've offered to do a test piece because when his latest whim is a pre-Heresy Death Guard army complete with 5 Contemptor Dreadnoughts it would be rude not to... Colin gave me this standard one the day before he was sending three back to exchange for the just released Death Guard variant, so by my reckoning that was late November.
Time to get cracking!
